MySpace 4 Extra Pics…

Current mood:  silly
Okay today I finally got my 4 extra pics on myspace…so I’ve been waiting for these 4 extra pic slots for about a month now so I had plenty of time to think up something to do with 4 extra pics on my profile. So if you want to see what I did, look at my bottom 4 pics in my photos section…

you have to buy the myspace records CD and send in the postcard that comes inside of it…it took more then a month for it to finally get setup for me, but it was worth the wait ;)

oh and a warning about the CD itself..i think it really sucks..so in essence i feel like i spent 10 bux just to have 4 pictures added to my profile so it looks like mySpace isn’t FREE anymore.

The Best Year Ive Had in a Long Time

Current mood:  anxious

Before this year even ends I’d like to state that it’s the best year I’ve had in a long long time. I’ve had a lot of nerdy closure (Star Wars Episode III – Six Feet Under)…a lot of happiness (Jackie moving in with me and that saved us both a lot of headaches between driving back and forth between NJ and DE)…and just overall overcoming a lot of personal bullshit that I’ve had inside the first 5 years of this decade. Here’s to 2006. Bring it on.

You guys live together now?  I missed that part.  That’s when the relationship gets interesting. If you weren’t fighting at all before, now you will!  But it definitely is nice to come home to someone who wants to jump your bones.  And you can jump bones a lot!  And you both save on rent and of course the driving and gas money are saved.  =)

Keep Me Out of the Loop

Current mood:  energetic

Not once has my favorite band asked me to listen to their music. Not once have they asked me what I liked about their new music video. They never asked me to come to their concert or play their album over and over until I couldn’t listen to it anymore.

So this is my problem with bands and mySpace. I understand that mySpace is a great outlet for advertising your band, getting your music heard and it’s a cheap way to create a web page, but still, there is so much bullshit to wade through that it’s getting to be quite annoying. Take for instance some random band that sent me this message last night:

From: Phase 9
Date: Dec 20, 2005 11:51 PM

hey whats up? dont wanna sound super fucking generic emails but im honestly out looking for some fresh opinions on our video we just put up. I promise i will respond and not be a whore like everyone else. Def just looking for some fresh feedback and i thought you might have a min to help me out. If not its cool and thanks for your time, if so i would be very appreciative of it. Thanks so much for not at this point rejecting the email and hopefully ill hear from you soon. thanks again

anthony

Okay so they didn’t go super generic with the email (how do you sound super fucking generic emails???), they tried sounding witty and personal with me. They asked politely and thanked me a lot for reading their message alone. Now my problem with this is that:

1) Spam mail sucks ass as it is…do we really need to receive shit spam from bands now too? You know that feeling when you see a spam message and it looks like total bullshit and you can’t delete it fast enough…now we’re wading through bands spam mail in mySpace…that’s just not cool…

2) How the fuck will bands stand out among this sea of “music” on mySpace? Everywhere I look there are bands sounding and looking alike…there’s just no creativity and being in a band has basically turned into masturbation…everyone is doing it.

I remember a time on the internet when band websites were created by their fans, the people who loved them and couldnt get enough of them and wanted a resource for learning more about their favorite bands and sharing information with other people…but now it’s like something else. It feels like the internet is hurting bands now…everyone has web pages, myspace, mp3s…everything is just readily accessible with bands…how the fuck do you choose???

Unfortunately it brings me to the point where I can’t stand checking out another band on the internet…I’d much rather hear a new band live for the first time…if a band can bring you in with their live show thats where it’s at for me. I will look up your website or mySpace page and I will add you on my own time. If I want to watch your videos and download your tunes I will, I don’t need your invite. And I’m sorry, but I’m not into giving out my opionons on music videos whether you are the Foo Fighters or Phase 9.

Everything here on mySpace feels so saturated, good luck sifting through it and if you find anything worthwhile, please please please…DONT LET ME KNOW…I’d like to find out about it on my own (unless you are Edwin or Kate, whom opinions I trust 85 percent the time…well Kate’s…lets make that 66 percent….j/k)

I rarely ever get spammed on myspace.  Maybe it’s cuz you have a music profile?  And yes, they’re all starting to sound the same.  Boring.

I feel like the Al to your Sam Becket: Sam, there’s a 66% probability that you’ll like the band I’m about to recommend to you. They’re called The Private Sea, and you may recall hearing about the lead singer Roger Martinez, an old friend of John’s. I just heard them tonight and think they’ve got a decent sound. Check them out!!!   http://www.myspace.com/theprivatesea

P.S. – I was honestly going to send you a link to them even before you posted this. However, I forgot to do it but was reminded that I should after reading about how much you hate myspace bands.  Isn’t that ironic?

Here here. I hardly get anymore mail from bands, since I changed my age and my settings to block bands from sending me friend requests.

I agree with the other gal.  I changed my settings because the band requests were so annoying!  At first I was nice and gave many a chance….then I had like 600 friends.  ha!  Now I keep only bands/artists that I <3.

Kids Always Surprise Me

Current mood:  determined

Just a quick short cute story of my niece.Today I was walking around the Edison mall in Fort Myers with my niece Kaylee. We were walking by some coffee – starbucks type store in the mall and some guy threw his cup at a trash can and totally missed. The cup went rolling on the ground as me and Kaylee were walking by. The old dude got up to throw the cup away. Kaylee let go of my hand and went and picked up the cup (out of free will) and just threw it in the trash. The guy said thanks and I couldn’t help but smile and just enjoy the moment.
