Funny Faces Blog

On Wednesday night of this past week I got to hang out with my older sister Kim from Chicago. She was down in FL visiting some family and was able to make it to Southwest FL for a day. Of course this included my niece Fiona & nephew Liam.

As I was shooting pictures that night, I decided to take some funny faces pics for this blog. Hope this blog puts a smile on your face. Feel free to share your funny faces as well.

Please note – Kara wouldn’t take part in the “funny faces” photos, so I had to snap a random shot of her to get her in the blog. ;)

Fiona gets my vote for funniest. You’re second, and surprisingly Rob steps up to the plate and makes 3rd on my list…I bet he worked extra hard for him and Kara both considering Kara doesn’t ever participate in shit! Jeeeeeeze Kara! I’ll work on some pictures of John and I for this with my new 10.1 digital camera. BUWAHAHAHAAAAAA!

I like the little girl to your ‘left’ in yours. She’s looking at you like…”Oh My God, What the hell is happening to HIM?”, and “Do We Kill it Now Or Later???” She gets my vote, cause it’s very honest!!! Coming in Second would be ‘Rob’, he just looks like a ‘drunken frog’ or something. You guys are all really cute though!

These are my smittens.

They are sisters. Their names are midnite & skye. Midnite is very friendly and yet she is also very playful. Skye is stuck with a permanent sour face, she is also friendly when you are holding a can of wet food for her. Skye is the UBER bad one. She likes to run around and make Midnite chase her throughout the house.

I came home from work one day and my girlfriend Jackie said she had a surprise for me. She brought me into our spare bedroom and I looked under the bed. They were both hiding and were peeking out at me.

I had met them a few days earlier – someone had dropped them off at a local pet store with their brothers & sisters. They were abandoned.

They now live with us here in Bonita Springs and soon to be in Ft. Myers. If you don’t know this, I’m a cat lover and I’m really happy that we found these two cats, they are great.

who could abandon two gorgeous and seemingly mild-mannered cats like that?!?! I hate when people do that shit. luckily they’ve found a good home, though.

Aww I feel bad that you didn’t get to participate in picking them out.
You always were partial to having an orange cat but I’m glad you have accepted them into our home and you love them as much as I do…. even when they are being a pain in the ass.
And you know that they love you too, they follow us around all the time.
I like this picture of Midnite that Cat took.. can’t seem to find a good one of just skye

Marvin is my baby boy. He is soooo rambunctious. Leave your slippers in the “wrong place” he will definetly move them for you. Speaker wires under the couch neatly hidden from plain view “not anymore”. I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank Marvin for many nights of poor sleep. He plays with anything and everything. If he doesn’t have anything to play with he will make the best of it. Like one time when he thought my favorite sun glasses didn’t have quite enough teeth markes in them. I was so proud. Here’s to our Kitties.

The Douchebag Cape Epidemic

There is an epidemic that breeds here in southwest Florida and I’m sure it is not limited to this place. Whilst discussing this topic with my brother-in-law-2-be John,  he revealed the perfect name: The Douchebag Cape.

What is the Douchebag Cape you ask? Simply put, it is a sweater wrapped around a person’s neck whilst they are out on a day where the weather is below 70 degrees here in Florida.

Douchebag Capes come in all shapes and sizes. They are not limited to men or women.

What exactly does a Douchebag Cape reveal about a person? I’m not exactly sure about this one, however while I was on 5th Street in Naples, Florida there seemed to be an abundance of Douchebag Capes frequenting the local Starbucks. Don’t fear you Starbucks addicts, drinking Starbucks doesn’t mean your a Douchebag (perhaps a sellout though? A topic for another day *wink wink*).

*I have documented the occurence of this epidemic for blogging purposes. The following photos were taken on January 1st, 2008. Thus begins my first photo blog of the New Year…

“D-Bag Cape from behind.”
The cape is in the middle. What’s that smell?

“Women Like Cape’s Too!”
D-bag cape featured on the woman on the far left. Perhaps the girl in the middle is a future Douchebag Caper to Be???

“2 For 1″
Not only is there a Douchebag Cape featured on the man on the right, but there’s a saucesome curly mullet on the left. Love it.

“A Couple of Douchebag…Capes”
This couple was all over this place. By the time I took the third picture of them, they must’ve realized I’m the Douchebag Cape Paparazzi.

* = Please note, I’m not one to judge people on their clothing, but I feel the presence of a Douchebag Cape surely reveals a high level of Doucheness in the air.

Please feel free to share your stories of Douchebag Cape’s. Pictures are a plus.

I see your point. It does seem to be a phenomenon. It wouldn’t work here. The weather changes so frequently and violently that most people are forced to wear layers of potential douchebag paraphenalia and a visit to any indoor environment heated to 88 degrees can force a person to start peeling off layers for awhile. It really sucks to stroll around holding various lumps of coats and hats. Ugh, I need to visit Florida soon!

HAHAHAHA, Douchebag Cape Paparazzi!!!! I must tell you that this does not only happen in Florida but in Arizona too!!!! What is even funnier than the douchebag capes is the earmuff, hat and glove douchebags here! When the weather goes below 70 in AZ ppl think they are FREEZING to death or something!!!

Hope you have a great new year and keep up the paparazzism!!!

Honestly, those capes do NOTHING FOR YOU. It was such a freaking nice day, there was no need for sweaters. It’s a status thing and it’s ghey. But seriously, how did I miss the poodle mullet guy??? I must have been too busy getting my soy latte fix in Starbucks. This is what I get for being a sell out.

I like how you have the nice young lady in the green dress centered in your 2nd picture. I know what you were really checking out. All this Douchebag Cape stuff is a ruse to protect yourself from Jackie wrath. You dam voyeur.

Charley, I have to agree with the guy right above me, (the Big Korean)…you were just doing this for some ‘discrete girl watching’, like the girl in the pretty Green dress. She was cute! Ha Ha Ha!!!

But, gotta agree with you, this fashion statement is pretentious and I’m glad your pointing these people out with your Douchebag Paparazzi!!! Good for you!!! Besides, I thought this fashion statement played out in the 90’s or even the 80’s?? Would someone Please let them know they are ‘Freakin’ Out Of Date???’ LOL! There Must be a Stop put to this…I can’t take it. Always hated this look. Pretentious bastards!!!! Maybe you should let them know what you’re doing and why, and maybe That would shame them into stopping. I’m glad I don’t see it much anymore around the Ohio area, especially in the Winter. Happy New Year Man!

Yo this is Biff. I am the leader of the Douchebag Cape posse here in Yuppie Town New Hampshire. We are gonna come down there to Florida and give you a stern talking to and possibly even a time out.

I am so disappointed in you Charles. We trusted you with our secrets and you betrayed us. I am going to get a vanilla chai late and cool down. Maybe I need a time out.

Blu-Ray Strikes Back!!!

From PCworld.com:

Talk about a seismic shift in the next-generation DVD format war.

Warner Brothers–until now the only studio that was continuing to release titles in both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD formats–has announced it will be moving to Blu-ray Disc exclusively in 2008.

The studio’s decision to go Blu-ray means Blu-ray clearly has the advantage with regard to content: With the backing of Warner plus Blu-ray stalwarts Disney, Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, and Sony, Blu-ray Disc holds the content advantage. It’s now the better bet of the two warring formats–if for no other reason that the movies you want are more likely to come out on Blu-ray than on HD DVD.

I fully expected that if Warner was going to make an announcement one way or the other, it would be at next week’s International Consumer Electronics Show.

The company got a jump on all the CES news by putting its announcement out today, a day before the first official CES events start in Las Vegas.

Now that Warner has made its move, I’m all the more interested in watching the posturing at CES by the two camps. I know that Warner never wanted to be in the position of deciding the format war by picking a side; yet, that may be what they effectively did by coming out decisively on the side of Blu-ray Disc.

In a statement released today, Warner chairman and CEO Barry Meyer says this move “is a strategic decision focused on the long term and the most direct way to give consumers what they want. The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger. We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly, consumers.”

Just one year ago, Warner was touting its Total High-Def dual-format disc solution to the format war. However, in spite of the company’s grandiose plans, the option of creating a disc with both formats (one on each side) was never commercially viable, and the company quietly tabled the idea later in 2007.

Warner says it will continue to release titles in standard DVD and Blu-ray. Thereafter, after a “short window” passes, the studio will continue to release new titles in HD DVD until the end of May 2008. The company’s initial statement gives no indication as to why they plan to continue offering new titles in HD DVD.

Back in August 2007, Paramount, the only other studio to release discs in both formats, went HD DVD exclusively.

Warner’s move was not entirely unanticipated, based on murmurs I’ve heard in back rooms and conversation. The studio had stated openly at October’s Blu-ray Festival that it was revisiting the practicality of releasing titles in both formats, and would be looking at making a decision on its direction by the beginning of the new year.

Although Blu-ray has ridden a high this year with regard to disc sales, the format has seen HD DVD make some inroads recently–particularly with last November’s $100 pre-holiday sell-off of older HD DVD models.

This announcement by Warner certainly gives Blu-ray a much-needed booster shot–and looks to solidify Blu-ray’s lead in the format war.
