Wedding Video Blu-ray and DVD Menus

Wedding Video Blu-ray / DVD Menu

Capture the viewer's attention with those DVD / Blu-ray menus - it's usually the first thing they see when they pop in the disc!

When it comes time to finish up a Wedding Video in Blu-ray or DVD format, a very important factor is the menu. After spending all of the time to travel, plan, shoot, edit, mix, composite, and do everything that you do to put together a terrific wedding video, there is one thing that will be seen before the video starts – the menu that leads your viewers to the wedding video, the chapters, the photo album, the trailer, etc.

I wanted to share with you a couple of sample Blu-ray / DVD menus that I’ve created for wedding videos. Usually with my wedding video workflow, I put together the DVD menu towards the end of the project as the whole video is wrapping up. At that point I have finalized the look, the fonts & the colors to keep everything consistent and I want that tied into the menu.

Some DVD menus feature wedding photos while others include a video montage in the background to bring the menu to life. Some menus require music while others work very will in silence, as the viewers are preparing to watch the wedding video for the very first time.

I like to layout the menus as you would see on any Hollywood DVD/Blu-ray – including buttons to each section or animated thumbnail buttons to jump to a specific chapter on the disc.

Below I’ve included two sample menus. Please note, the samples below are just video files, although you can play them, you can’t click on the buttons that are featured on each menu. Enjoy.

Wedding Video Trailers

I’ve got to admit, one of my favorite parts of creating a wedding video is putting together the wedding video trailer. After I finish logging all of the footage, I will (usually) move on to editing the trailer since all of the shots are fresh in my mind.

Music is very critical to the trailer, so besides knowing what shots I want to use, the music must be in place! Much like a music video, music in a wedding video trailer will cue the different shots and will set the tone of the brief intro of what’s to come.

During the process of editing a wedding video trailer, I’ll also get a lot of ideas / inspiration for how I will cut certain scenes throughout the wedding video. I premiere the trailers on the web to my clients and they also end up on the final DVD / Blu-ray with the rest of the video.

Here are a couple of my favorite wedding video trailers that I’ve done.
